In this six-episode series, the hosts, Dr. Justina Licata and Isabel Stephens discuss medical racism, eugenics and forced sterilization practices, abortion rights, as well as disability and LGBTQ+ activism. The third episode of “A Step Toward Justice” traces the history of forced and coerced sterilization practices in the US from the origins of the eugenics movement in the nineteenth century to Dawn Wooten’s allegations of coerced hysterectomies at one ICE Detention Center in September 2020.
